In response to the fast developing economic growth in Shenzhen and the wider Pearl River Delta region, the College of Urban Transportation and Logistics, with an vision to become a top practice-oriented College of science subjects, aims to nurture practically skilled talents in the fields of urban transportation and logistics by exploring a model of “degree education + work placement + project participation”. 

The College currently offers two courses, BSc in Transportation and BSc in Automobile Support Engineering, with an estimated number of 150 student intake in 2017. It is envisaged that the education offer will draw experiences from top international practice-based universities, introduce established and acclaimed courses, work closely with the large businesses in Shenzhen, and develop urgently demanded high quality talents with precise fit with the industries’ needs through a “3+1+x” model. 

In terms of school-enterprise cooperation, the College has signed a corporation agreement with Shenzhen Metro Co. Ltd. on the set-up and operation of the College. The decision-making right will lie with the College’s Board of Governors led by the Dean, with Shenzhen Metro providing a certain amount of funding. Over half of the graduates are expected to go on and work at Shenzhen Metro. In addition, the College has also agreed with key automobile manufacturers like CAPSA and Shenzhen Dongfeng Automobile on cooperation initiatives.   

In terms of international cooperation in running schools, the college has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research/TNO as well as Delft University of Technology (in Netherlands) in aspects of joint education, training program and scientific research. Teachers from Netherlands will give courses or short-term intensive lectures for students of Shenzhen Technology University. SZTU and TNO intends to form a joint research center in Shenzhen in the future to develop joint  research project on intelligent transportation and smart city, also to provide solutions and post-service .
